Overview
Are you dreaming of wide-open savannahs, majestic wildlife, and the raw beauty of the African wilderness? Look no further. Our 6-Day Classic Kenya Safari is meticulously designed to immerse you in the best landscapes the country has to offer—from the rugged, semi-arid beauty of Samburu to the lush shores of Lake Naivasha and the legendary plains of the Maasai Mara.
Get ready for an odyssey that blends adventure, culture, and nature in perfect harmony.
Depart Nairobi early in the morning, driving north through the changing landscapes of the central highlands. As you cross the equator, you will notice the terrain shift into the stunning, arid plains of Samburu. Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of the "Samburu Special Five"—the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Somali Ostrich, and Gerenuk.
- Overnight: Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar.
Dedicate your full day to exploring the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, the lifeblood of the reserve. This river attracts vast herds of elephants and predators, providing excellent wildlife photography opportunities. Morning and afternoon game drives offer the best chance to spot leopards and lions patrolling the riverine forest.
- Overnight: Samburu Sopa Lodge or similar.
After breakfast, descend into the Great Rift Valley toward Lake Naivasha. By afternoon, arrive at this freshwater paradise. Enjoy a serene boat ride on the lake, where you will see hippos wallowing and countless species of birds, including the majestic African Fish Eagle. Later, take a guided walking safari on Crescent Island, where you can walk alongside giraffes, zebras, and impalas.
- Overnight: Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort or similar.
Leave the lakeside behind as you travel across the floor of the Rift Valley toward the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. Arrive in time for an afternoon game drive in this iconic theatre of the wild. Keep your eyes peeled for the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino.
- Overnight: Ashnil Mara Camp or similar.
Spend the entire day exploring the sprawling plains. With vast numbers of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, the Mara is the ultimate predator-prey battleground. If you are visiting during the Great Migration season (July–October), you might witness the dramatic river crossings. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the wild.
- Overnight: Ashnil Mara Camp or similar.
On your final morning, delve into the rich traditions of the Maasai people. Visit a authentic Maasai Village to learn about their nomadic lifestyle, traditional medicine, and vibrant beadwork. After this cultural immersion, begin your journey back to Nakuru, where your safari concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or a transfer for your onward travel.
